Little things

These little things are standing indoors so they are my pleasure now as the winter is still going strong outside! I thought spring was on its way, but then we had a bad snowstorm yesterday, and it is snowing again at the moment. So we will have to wait.

One ivy and two pomegranates.

Indoors, still.

Worked on my variegated ficus today.

And my ivy.  I would want the low branch to become stronger on this one.

Pomegranate with flower buds, maybe they are not visible in the picture?

Here the flower buds are more clear to see. Now when I see the picture I think this pomegranate will be repotted on an angle the next time, so that both trunks will be leaning to the right instead of one to each side...

Here is also a picture of my hollies. They have been overwintering in the garage, I took them outside today as it is pretty warm (10 degrees C). They are full of flowers!
I love the shiny green leaves, and one time many years ago I thought I would make bonsai of them... What a joke. I hardly want to repot them or pick up a fallen leaf from the soil, because they hurt my fingers...

Gotland: Ivy

I have just come home from a vacation week on Gotland in the south of Sweden. It has a totally different climate from ours here in the north!

Above is my ivy bonsai. Not very big!
Ivy is a sign plant of Gotland. My little specimen, kept indoors all year, never has any flowers but this week I got to see the ivy flowers - or at least flower buds:

Ivy was growing over all kinds of trees, walls, houses and ruins:

Here it is on a dead spruce.

- Here on a pine, the pine's branches sticking out.

It makes a really fascinating "weave"  around trunks and on whatever it is growing over!

November

My ficus with electric christmas candles and an orchid. I have defoliated the ficus twice this season, and will do it twice again in the coming year. Now it looks just as normal.

We have had a long period of rain, rain, rain, fog and darkness... Quite depressing.

This picture is from today: It is a little colder and we have snow on the ground... One millimeter or so...

Idag ser det ut så här. Vi har snö - ungefär en millimeter!

The lake is ice-covered.

Is på sjön.

My outdoor trees. The red tapes are still here and I hope they will keep the moose away in the winter! It did work last year!

 My two ficus natasja.

Mina två natasjafikusar.

Ivy. I have let it grow in all directions.

Ivy

I want to show you my  ivy - it thrives and grows!

Shiny leaves

Ivy.

Murgröna.

I have another ivy, not bonsai yet, with beautiful shiny leaves. The shape of the leaves remind me a little of holly. I have a weakness for shiny leaves, cannot help that!

I have a holly too. Keep it in the garage in the winter and now outside, but i try to remember to take it inside in the night. This one will never be a bonsai - too uncomfortable to touch!!!

Ficus retusa: shiny leaves.

Ficus retusa: blanka blad.

Kamellia: shiny leaves! This one had a flower in september.

Kamellia: blanka blad! Denna hade en blomma i höstas.

Now just to improve the diversity of species, I am going to try sowing rhus - here are the seeds and the picture tells me exactly how they will look in a near future!!!
